Ming C. Lin is a Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she holds the Barry Mersky and Capital One Endowed Professorship. Previously chair of the Computer Science Department, she spent two decades at UNC Chapel Hill as the John R. & Louise S. Parker Distinguished Professor.
Her work spans differentiable physics, robotics, virtual agents, and interactive sound rendering, with practical impact in medicine, urban planning, e-commerce, and gaming. Lin holds five patents and has licensed software to over 60 companies.
Her influential contributions include the LinCanny algorithm for collision detection and real-time simulation tools used worldwide. As an ACM, IEEE, and NAI Fellow, Lin continues to lead innovation as an Amazon Scholar and mentor to the next generation of researchers.
